First, a huge “THANK
YOU” to my awesome techie parents who helped out so much last night. We
had a great meeting. Bring back your growing terrarium to share with the
group at the next meeting (don’t worry- you get to keep it).

Second- here are a
few things. For folks with TRADITIONAL members (over 8 by Dec. 31, 2013),
here is the 4-H project list links. Some of these are a little cryptic.
So let me know what you would like specific information on. Please think
about any projects you would like to complete and/or do for fair this
year. I will get you all the needed information. We strongly
encourage each traditional member to finish at least one complete project.

Cake decorating workshop for units 1-3 is March
8th from 9-12. Cost is $5 and it will be held at Adco
Fairgrounds. Open to enrolled members 8 and over. Julia (extension
agent at Adco fairgrounds) must have RSVP and money by Mar 4th.
Unit 1- decorating with candy/ edibles
Unit 2- single layer cake- basic use of frosting bags and
tips
Unit 3- double layer cake- additional tips used.
Please contact me if you are unsure about what level is
appropriate. If you have never done cake decorating I would suggest Unit
1 or 2.

Robotics for the next meeting. Parents- if you are able, please bring a small selection
of hand tools, needle nosed pliers, small saws, etc. I highly suggest
marking your tools with colored electrical tape, duct tape or spray paint the
handles with a stripe, to identify your tools. If anyone has a soldering kit, that would also be
helpful. Please bring clean trash (food containers, etc)
and/or old broken toys. Wheels etc. PWe will have a selection of
electronic supplies for sale, at cost. You are welcome to use any of them for
free, or purchase if you would like to take home. Motors are $1-2, other
components are probably under $1-$2 each. Full electronics for a robot
should be around $6-$8. If you would like to order your own supplies, I
am using www.robotstore.com They
seem to have the best prices.
